FGCI Tech Tip: Safety Gear

safety equipSafety gear or PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) is something that many of us take for granted, but is something that should be considered with every job. Here at FGCI, we issue face masks for all employees in our filler manufacturing area and have them tested yearly. We also provide eye protection and gloves to every employee and in some cases, body protection in the way of paper suits or pants, etc. We make these items accessible for every worker over there to concrete the notion that safety should always be the number one concern.

For your common job, there is no reason to not have a box of gloves laying around, and have eye protection (we carry safety goggles and safety glasses). It’s safer to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Both items are inexpensive and very handy for non-fiberglass and fiberglass projects alike.

With grinding and sanding, you want to make sure you have a dust/particulate mask on at all times. We also carry full face masks and half-face masks for spraying gelcoat or paint, which is a must, as you don’t want that in your lungs.

With body protection, we have paper suits, and the sturdier Tyvek suits that cover nearly everything. We also sell paper pants, shoe covers, paper sleeves and spray hoods to ensure nothing gets on you.

All of these need to be on your shopping list as your browse our site or the isles of our showrooms because they are something you can’t afford to be without.
